Domitila: Production of Zeb Ejiro’s 1996 Movie Sequel To Begin

The production of the sequel of Domitila, a 1996 Nollywood classic, which was co-produced and directed by veteran filmmaker, Zeb Ejiro, will soon commence.

24 years after its original release, the production of the movie sequel, which is scheduled for release between January and March 2021, according to the executive producers, will officially be in the works later this year (2020).

Unlike the 1996 Domitila, three film production companies have partnered to produce the sequel. The companies are –Zeb Ejiro Productions, FilmOne Entertainment, and Omoni Oboli’s Dioni Vision.

Speaking of the forthcoming movie, Ejiro said; “when we first made ‘Domitila’, it was a story inspired by societal challenges that have over time, proven to not only be akin to the ’90s, but trans-generational; and so, in recognition of its relevance in these times, we have decided to make a sequel to the story, factoring recent socio-cultural advancements.”

Amongst those named to ensure the production of the Domitila sequel is successful, is Omoni Oboli, an award-winning actress, director, and producer. She has been named as the Creative Director of the project, as well as the Executive Producer.

It would be recalled that when the 1996 Domitila first appeared in the cinemas, movie enthusiasts thronged the National Theatre to see the crime drama.

The 1996 classic, which was a favourite on the home screens in the 90s, influenced the claim to fame of a few of its lead and supporting cast.

Starring stars like Anne Njemanze, Kate Henshaw, amongst others, Domitila, narrates the story of an average sex-worker and her quest for survival.
