Nigerian actress Etinosa Idemudia has sparked conversations with her candid views on success, marriage, and womanhood.
In a recent interview, she challenged societal pressures that measure a woman’s worth by her marital status or the number of children she has.
According to Idemudia, neither marriage nor childbirth should be seen as ultimate achievements. She believes true success is not determined by hard work alone, but by a combination of effort, grace, and divine timing.
“The difference between successful actors and not successful actors… I feel like it’s grace,” she explained. “Hard work is part of it, but I can never say hard work is all of it.”

When asked what she would teach her future daughter, Idemudia emphasised self-esteem and self-respect above all else. “If I don’t teach my daughter anything, I will teach her how to respect herself, how to value herself,” she said.
She stressed that a woman who carries strong self-respect is far less likely to be disrespected by others.
The actress also addressed the unfair gender dynamics in society. She noted that successful women are often judged more harshly than men and frequently labelled “sex worker” even though men engage in similar transactional behaviours to get ahead.
She encouraged women to stop envying one another and instead draw inspiration from each other’s journeys, while acknowledging that women continue to face harsher scrutiny in similar situations.
