Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has sent an unconventional advice to aspiring musicians and actors.
He urges creatives to take charge of their careers and stop relying on others for opportunities. “Good things come to those who work for it. So don’t sit idle; get up and work.”
According to Yul Edochie, musicians should ditch the traditional sponsorship route and instead perform at bars and lounges for free. By doing so, they can showcase their talent to potential fans and industry professionals, increasing their chances of being noticed.
In his words: “If you want to be a musician, don’t sit around begging for sponsorship. Go to bars and lounges and beg them to let you sing for free. There, your talent will be noticed.”

Similarly, he urged that actors should be proactive in seeking out opportunities rather than waiting for connections. Yul Edochie advises them to find out where films are being made and introduce themselves to industry professionals. According to him, taking the initiative, actors can network, build relationships, and potentially land roles.
“If you want to be an actor, don’t sit around begging for connections. Ask where films are made, go there, and connect yourself.”
