Nollywood actress Judy Austin Yul-Edochie has filed two separate defamation suits at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, targeting both veteran actress Rita Edochie and her former husband, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuobasi.
In the first suit against Rita Edochie (Suit No. CV/12990/26), Austin is seeking ₦1 billion as general damages and asking the court to compel Rita to publish a full and unreserved retraction and apology in at least two widely circulated national newspapers and across all her social media platforms.
Additional reliefs include a perpetual injunction restraining further publication of the alleged defamatory statements, an order to take down existing statements from online platforms, ₦50 million as costs of the action, and 10 per cent post-judgment interest.

In a parallel suit against her ex-husband, Emmanuel Chukwuobasi (Suit No. CV/12989/26), Austin is also claiming ₦1 billion in general damages for defamation. The claims against him are more extensive and include ₦500 million in aggravated damages for repeated publications over a prolonged period, another ₦500 million in exemplary damages, higher costs of ₦100 million, a perpetual injunction, an order to remove the statements, and post-judgment interest.
Both defendants have 30 days from the date of service to enter an appearance. Austin shared the court documents on social media with the caption signalling her decision to pursue legal action rather than continue public exchanges.
