Etinosa Idemudia speaks on harassment from ‘area boys’

Nigerian actress, Etinosa Idemudia, has said she has experienced harassment from ‘area boys’ on set.

She stated this during a chat with Punch.

She said  “I have experienced harassment from ‘area boys’ several times on set around the Ajah and Lekki axis in Lagos. The solution to this menace is that the ‘agberos’ should be given work to do. Some of them are really intelligent but they don’t just have opportunities.

“On one of the sets I was working on, they actually came to disturb us, but the producer, Dabby Chimere, gave them an option of acting as extras in the movie. That was to make them work for the money they wanted to collect. To my surprise, they acted so well.”

She added that it is the duty of the government to provide jobs for the louts.

She added “In every case, we must settle them; though the price varies. Sometimes, we even buy them drinks; it depends on their demands. The activities of these louts cause down time, and their interruption delays the job.

“That is the work for the government, not filmmakers. It is the responsibility of the government to provide jobs and an enabling environment for the youth.”
