Falz Seeks Reconstitution of the National Human Rights Commissions Board

Popular rapper, Folarin Falana otherwise known as Falz has penned an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, as he sought the reconstitution of the National Human Rights Commissions board.

In the letter, Falz noted that there is a need for the Buhari-led administration to reconstitute the council publicly, adding that the reconstitution of the National Human Rights Commissions board, will help the government in restoring the confidence of Nigerians.

While revealing that the commission has been operating without a governing council since 2015, the music star said reconstituting the board will also complement the police reform commitment of the incumbent administration.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, have bowed to the increasing pressure from protesters across the country, as they both confirmed in separate statements that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has been dissolved.

SARS was a notorious police unit, that was known for indiscriminately violating the human rights of the Nigerian citizenry.

However, while maintaining that his administration is committed to the protection of the human rights of members of the public, Buhari said the disbandment of SARS is the first step of the police reform process.
