In a candid revelation, Afrobeat singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has attributed the breakup of the iconic music group P-Square to the behavior of their fans.

Speaking at the AY Comedian show, Mr P disclosed that the constant comparisons between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), fueled tension and ego issues that ultimately led to the group’s demise.

According to Mr P, fans’ favoritism and tendency to pit him against his brother created divisions that became insurmountable.

“Fans are the reasons P-Square no dey together today,” he stated emphatically, highlighting the significant role that fan behavior played in the group’s split. Mr P explained that when fans constantly pitted him against his brother, saying one was better than the other, it began to affect their relationship. “Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave,” he said, illustrating how the constant comparisons led to ego issues and misbehavior.

The P-Square twins were once one of Africa’s most successful music groups, known for their harmonious vocals and synchronized dance moves. Their hits like “Personally” and “Alingo” dominated the airwaves, and their energetic live performances earned them a massive following. However, their split has been a subject of speculation and controversy over the years, with fans and industry insiders alike wondering what led to the group’s disbandment.

Recall that after their first disbandment in 2017, they came back together in November 2021 However, in 2022, Rudeboy in an interview with media personality, Joey Akan, revealed that the split was caused by family issues and was not music-related.
