In a viral display of fan support, Nigerian actor Tobi Bakre is being crowned as the dream Black Panther by his fans online following Marvel’s recent casting announcement.
The conversation started when fan Chef Human posted, “Low key, I wanted Tobi Bakre as the new Black Panther but God knows best.”
Bakre replied with infectious energy: “Dem no Dey lowkey this kind wish na. You have to loud it and enter fasting and prayers for me.”
Tobi Bakre, born in Lagos in 1994, rose to fame on Big Brother Naija Season 3 and has since become one of Nollywood’s top stars. The former banker has delivered standout roles in hits like Gangs of Lagos, Brotherhood, and The Blood Covenant.

In 2025, strong performances earned him recognition as Nollywood’s highest-grossing actor and Best Actor awards at the AMVCA and AMAA.
The late Chadwick Boseman powerfully defined the Black Panther role as King T’Challa in the 2018 film that earned a Best Picture nomination.
After Boseman’s passing in 2020, Wakanda Forever honored his legacy by introducing T’Challa’s young son and featuring Letitia Wright as Shuri.
Marvel has now cast David Jonsson to play the adult Prince T’Challa II in Black Panther 3, set for December 15, 2028, under director Ryan Coogler.
