Veteran Nigerian media personality, Kunle Bakare, has weighed in on the topic of the ongoing conversation about the late Afrobeats pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
In a statement on his official Facebook account, the renowned media personality stated that the multi-instrumentalist and social activist, Fela, was a sensational performer as well as one of the world’s greatest music composers and musicians to have ever emerged.
He made this statement following the controversial statement made by seasoned singer-songwriter Wizkid, who has been receiving predominantly negative reactions from both the entertainment industry and fans globally.

Writing on Facebook, Bakare said, “Are you talking about Olufela Anikulapo-Kuti?”
He went further to write, “He’s on the level of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven. If he had been born in Europe, he would have been documented and celebrated.
Are you talking about one of the best composers, arrangers, and performers who ever lived?”
Bakare went further to write, “The man whose life and music was documented for a musical that was showcased across the world?”

Bakare didn’t stop there; he disclosed how Fela was benevolent with his music by delivering free performances four times in a week at his abode, dubbed the Fela Shrine.
He continued, “Who performed to a live audience four times a week at the Shrine (on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays)?
Whose big band was an orchestra of some of the most talented performers?”

In conclusion, Bakare wrote about Fela’s activism and influential musical career.
