Florence Pugh Defends 21-Year Age Gap with Boyfriend Zach Braff

Florence Pugh is not tolerating any negative comments about the age gap between her and her boyfriend Zach Braff.

The 24-year-old star, who has had vocal critics of her romance with the 45-year-old actor, took to Instagram Wednesday to speak her mind about hate comments on a previously posted photo of Braff for his birthday.

“Within about eight minutes of the photo being posted, I had about 70 percent of the comments hurling abuse and being horrid and basically bullying someone on my page,” she said. “I will not allow that behavior on that page,”

The Midsommar actress continued, “I do not need you to tell me who I should or should not love and I would never in my life — ever ever — tell anyone who they can or cannot love. It is not your place, and really it has nothing to do with you.”

Pugh said she wrestled with whether to post something, but decided to she needed to for her “own peace of mind.”

She also made it clear that she was an adult.

“I’m 24 years old,” Pugh said. “I have been working since I was 17 years old. I’ve been earning money since I was 17 years old. I became an adult when I was 18 years old, and I started paying taxes when I was 18 years old. I’ll underline this fact: I am 24 years old.”

And to those who didn’t agree with her message? “Please unfollow me,” she said. “Because the abuse that you throw at him is abuse that you’re throwing at me. And I don’t want those followers.”

Fellow celebrities took to the comment section to show their support.

“oh i love and appreciate u so much”, Ariana Grande commented. “‘being hateful is not trendy’ a new tattoo for my chest,” she added, referencing Pugh’s caption.

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams wrote, “Get ittttt.” The Act star Joey King said, “You are simply the coolest.”
