Full List of Nollywood Stars Who Stormed Lagos to Honour Alex Ekubo

Several Nigerian celebrities across the country on Wednesday, June 10th, stormed Lagos to pay their last respects to beloved actor and model Alexx Ikenna Ekubo Okwaraeke, who passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the age of 40.

Earlier, Eelive reported that the family, friends, colleagues, and admirers gathered at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, for a Service of Songs to celebrate Ekubo’s life and legacy as a husband, son, brother, and friend.

Among those present were IK Ogbonna, Ini Edo, Funke Akindele, Nancy Isime, Yomi Casual, Ayo Makun, Omoni Oboli, Ruth Kadiri, Kate Henshaw, Ebuka Obi Uchendu, Mbong Amata, Stan Nze and his wife Blessing Obasi, Nkechi Blessing, Bambam, Funny Bone, Uti Nwachukwu and Chigul

Gospel singers Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo and Moses Bliss led worship at the event. Other gospel ministers who were present are Peterson Okopi and Ebuka Songs.

Entertainers like Annie Idibia, Frank Edoho, Stan Nze, Segun Arinze, Peggy Ovire, Tacha, Frederick Leonard, Chike Blessing Sunday, Dayo Musa, E-money, KC, Yomi Casual, Shawn Faqua Toke Makinwa and reality star, Boma were also among those who came together to say their final goodbyes to the late actor.

The ever-lively actor died at Evercare Hospital in Lekki, Lagos, following complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer after a brief but courageous battle.

News of his death first broke on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, sending shockwaves across social media and Nollywood circles. Many fans and colleagues expressed disbelief, as the actor had maintained a relatively private struggle with his health.

The family had earlier released the burial arrangements in a statement. They said the service of songs would be held on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, with a white dress code. A wake-keep is scheduled for Wednesday, 17 June, while the burial and interment will take place on Thursday, 18 June, in his hometown in Abia State. A reception will follow after the burial.

Before his death was confirmed, there had been public concern about his absence from social media, as he had not been active on Instagram since 2024. Actress Oma Nnadi had earlier addressed the speculation, urging the public not to spread concerns about his well-being and noting that not everyone needed to be active online.
