
Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has paid an emotional tribute to his late colleague, Alex Ekubo, as family, friends and members of the entertainment industry continue to mourn his passing.
Eelive.ng reported that a service of Songs was held on Wednesday, June 10, at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, where numerous celebrities gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of the actor.

The event attracted several notable figures from the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Nancy Isime, IK Ogbonna, Funke Akindele, Mary Njoku, Chioma Akpotha, Yomi Casual, Ayo Makun, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, Ruth Kadiri, Kate Henshaw, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Mbong Amata, Stan Nze, Blessing Obasi, Nkechi Blessing, Bambam, Funny Bone, Uti Nwachukwu, Chigul and many others.

Kanayo offered a heartfelt farewell to the late actor. Reflecting on their relationship, he revealed that Alex Ekubo was the first person to call him “Nwanyi Sacrifice.
He wrote: “Sleep well, brother. The one who first called me Nwanyi Sacrifice”.
Actress Bimbo Ademoye also honoured Alex’s memory with an emotional message, describing him as gone but never forgotten. She prayed for him to rest peacefully and encouraged him to “fly high.”
In a touching gesture, Bimbo joined actress Nancy Isime in changing her social media profile photo to a picture of Alex Ekubo as a way of paying tribute to him. Fans quickly noticed the change and praised both actresses for keeping his memory alive.
Alexx Ekubo reportedly passed away on May 11 after battling cancer. He was 40 years old. His death sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry, with colleagues and fans continuing to celebrate his life, talent and contributions to Nollywood.
