Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele is close to making history at the Nigerian Box Office. Her latest film, ‘Behind The Scenes’, is about to reach an impressive 450,000 cinema admissions.

If the film reaches this milestone, Akindele will be the first Nigerian filmmaker to achieve 450,000 ticket admissions for one movie. This would set a new standard for Nollywood’s box office success.

Industry data shows the movie is only 2,700 tickets away from breaking the current record of 449,901 admissions, which was set by her 2020 hit, Omo Ghetto: The Saga.

This milestone is even more impressive considering the current economy, where average cinema ticket prices have gone up to between N7,000 and N8,000 across the country.

Despite the higher ticket costs, audience turnout has remained strong, reflecting sustained consumer interest in locally produced films and Akindele’s enduring popularity.

With this achievement, Akindele now has five of the top 10 highest-admitting films in Nigeria. This further shows her strong presence in the country’s film industry.

Her steady box office success has made her one of Nollywood’s most reliable filmmakers. Many of her movies have set new records in cinemas.Other well-known films in the top 10 for ticket sales are The Wedding Party and The Wedding Party 2, both made by ELFIKE Collective.

Chief Daddy, produced by EbonyLife Films, is also on the list. It had a successful run in theaters when it was released.

The political crime drama King of Boys, directed by Kemi Adetiba, is also one of the top films for ticket sales in Nigeria.larly, Sugar Rush directed by Jadesola Osiberu remains one of the standout commercial successes in Nigeria’s cinema history.
