Irish actor Michael Patrick, best known for his appearance in Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 35 following a three-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Patrick, also credited as Michael Campbell, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the Northern Ireland Hospice in Belfast, surrounded by loved ones.
His wife, Naomi Sheehan, broke the heartbreaking news on Instagram the following day, stating that she and their family are “broken-hearted.”

Diagnosed on February 1, 2023, the progressive condition gradually damaged the nerve cells controlling movement, affecting breathing, swallowing, speaking, and walking. Despite his illness, Patrick continued acting and writing, earning acclaim for his award-winning, wheelchair-bound performance as Richard III.
In her emotional tribute, Sheehan described her late husband as a “titan of a ginger-haired man” and an inspiration. “He lived a life as full as any human can live. Joy, abundance of spirit, infectious laughter,” she wrote.
Fans and colleagues have flooded social media with tributes, remembering Patrick’s energy, humour, and resilience.
