Almost two decades after featuring in the inaugural edition of the Nigerian reality show, Big Brother Naija, Gideon Okeke emerged as the best actor at the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON) Award ceremony.
His recent success follows his performance in the 2025 Nollywood psychological drama, Blackout. He won one of the two awards grabbed by the Blackout movie; the other award was given to Padita Agu, who emerged as the Best Actress at the BON Awards.

Before his recognition at the 2025 BON Awards, Okeke gained prominence for featuring in the Nollywood television series, Tinsel. Since his career took off from there, he has experienced some turmoil and decline; however, he has continued to refine his acting proficiency and skillset, becoming one of the most fascinating movie actors to appear on the television screen.

Gideon Okeke featured in the first-ever Big Brother Naija edition in 2006. Although he didn’t emerge victorious in the reality show, Okeke was able to build his career from there, developing an interest in acting. He enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York, where he obtained professional training in acting.
Following graduation from Lee Strasberg Institute, Okeke had his breakthrough role in the Nollywood movie, Tinsel. The budding movie star played the role of Prince Ade Williams, the spoiled and arrogant son of a media mogul.
Further, Gideon has also appeared on the South African TV series Jacobs Cross. In 2014, he played the role of Bernard in the iROKOTV series “Poisoned Bait,” directed by BAFTA LA award-winning director Leila Djansi. In addition, Gideon was the host of the DSTV game show Money Drop.

The movie actor landed his first lead role in the Nigerian drama film Relentless in 2010, starring alongside Jimmy Jean-Louis and Nneka Egbuna. His second lead role was in the 2014 crime thriller A Place in the Stars.

For stage drama, he has appeared in several stage productions, including Fractures, an adaptation of Arthur Miller’s A View From The Bridge. He also played Fela Kuti in Fela.. Arrest The Music, is a musical that celebrates the talent of the Nigerian Afrobeat legend.
