Grammy Winner Malik B Dies at 47
Grammy-winning rapper, Malik Abdul Basit popularly known as Malik B is dead. This is according to The Roots, an American hip hop band, which he was part of.
The Philadelphia-born American rapper was said to have passed away at the age of 47.
At the time of publishing this report, the cause of his death was yet to be made public.
“We regretfully inform you of the passing of our beloved brother and long-time Roots member Malik Abdul Basit.
“May he be remembered for his devotion to Islam and innovation as one of the most gifted MCs of all time. We ask that you please respect his family in our time of mourning,” The Roots wrote on Twitter.
The deceased was a founding member of The Roots. He was part of the groups’s musical journey from 1987 till 1999, when he departed.
During his period as a band member of The Roots, he featured on four albums, and even after going solo, he was featured on the group’s seventh body of work, Game Theory, in 2006.
As a solo artiste, Malik B released two albums and an EP to the delight of his fans.
