Sharon, the wife of Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua, has opened up about the early days of their relationship, revealing that she initially questioned her husband’s sincerity after he insisted on maintaining strict boundaries before marriage.
Speaking about their courtship, Sharon recalled that Shawn made it clear from the beginning that they would abstain from sex until they were married.
He also insisted that she would not be visiting his house while they were dating.
According to her, his firm stance left her confused at first, and she began to wonder whether he was hiding something from her.
Recounting one particular incident, Sharon explained that she had travelled to Lagos for an engagement, but her plans took an unexpected turn when her flight arrived much later than scheduled.
On getting to the accommodation where she intended to spend the night, she discovered that there were no available rooms.
She said:”When we first started dating, he said we couldn’t have sex before marriage and I couldn’t come to his house.”
She revealed that, given the circumstances, she thought it would be reasonable to spend the night at Shawn’s house before returning to her own place the following day. However, the actor declined her request.

She continued: “I was supposed to come to Lagos for something, but my flight was really late. I landed and the hostel I was supposed to stay in was fully booked. So I was like, ‘Let me just stay in your house and I will go to my house.’ He said no, that I should give him time, let’s plan with the Holy Spirit.”
Sharon admitted that his response left her feeling suspicious, as she struggled to understand why he was so determined to uphold those boundaries.
She added: “I told my friends, ‘Forget this thing, this guy is not honest.”

Despite her initial doubts, the couple eventually built a strong relationship founded on shared values and mutual respect.
