Nollywood actress and filmmaker Faithia Williams has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late colleague, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing him as an honest, peaceful and irreplaceable figure in her life.
The veteran actor died on Sunday, 23 August 2026, at the age of 66, following a battle with stage-four cancer. His death was confirmed by his daughter, Kira Hassan, during an emotional live video.
Ogogo was laid to rest the following day in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
At his eighth-day Fidau prayer, Williams, reflected on her relationship with the late actor and the important role he played in her early days in the Yoruba movie industry.

The 55-year-old actress, recalled how warmly Ogogo received her after she returned from London and joined the Odunfa caucus.
She said:“Ogogo wasn’t just a boss to me; he was someone who contributed greatly to my person when I came back from London to Nigeria and joined Odunfa.
She added:”He was there for me, and I was greatly and warmly welcomed. He was honest, peaceful and irreplaceable.”

However, Williams tribute reflected the deep respect and admiration she had for the veteran actor, who spent more than four decades entertaining audiences and contributing to the growth of the Yoruba film industry.
The eighth-day Fidau prayer, held on Monday in Ilaro, Ogun State, also attracted several prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including veteran actors Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko.
Williams was among the Nollywood stars who gathered to honour Ogogo and offer prayers for his soul.
Other actors have also continued to mourn the late film icon. Ibrahim Chatta, Itele and Kelvin Ikeduba were seen in a video paying tribute to Ogogo, speaking about his kindness and generosity while offering prayers for his soul.
Despite the prayers, support and efforts made during his illness, Taiwo Hassan’s death has left a huge void in the Nigerian movie industry.
