How I Discovered I Had COVID-19 -Zainab Balogun

Nollywood actress, Zainab Balogun has revealed that she discovered she was positive for COVID-19 when she followed her friend to get tested.

The movie star who took to her YouTube channel to share her experience said it was two days to Christmas when she was told that she had COVID-19.

Balogun said she was so sure that she didn’t have COVID-19 despite her illness, adding that until she was informed about her COVID-19 status, she was confident that her illness was seasonal asthma.

Her words: Everything started just before Christmas. For the longest time of my life, I couldn’t sleep well, and this was as a result of some of the changes in my body and what my mind was going through after having surgery.

“I woke up after two days that I couldn’t sleep, I was feeling achy. I started feeling like my illness was because of the drugs I was taking. So, then I was like this is pretty much normal.

“I also have seasonal asthma, which also means that during Christmas and December time in general, with Lagos and harmattan, I’m always coughing. Like all of my friends know, that there was a time Zainab is going to be ill.

“So, I was constantly coughing. And I thought it was my seasonal asthma coming through. So those two nights, I remember coming down and telling my husband that I couldn’t really sleep, but I eventually got a little bit better. The cough lingers, I was coughing for weeks, and it was really intense.

“I remember getting a call from my friend who wanted to go and get tested because she wasn’t feeling too well. So, I drove and went with her. And while we were there, I was also like ‘let me take the test too’… I was confident and so adamant that I didn’t have COVID-19.

“I knew what my symptoms were, I don’t get malaria… We did the test … and the moment I had I was positive. I just went frozen because I was sure I didn’t have it.

“So, I came home to inform my husband and we got everyone in the house tested, thankfully, everybody was negative, but I had to go immediately into isolation.”
