Omoni Oboli, the Nollywood actress cum filmmaker has opened up about how the decision she made alongside with her husband, Nnamdi Oboli kept their union strong throughout the years.
The filmmaker during a recent Interview with Chude Jideonwo, added that forgiveness also played a huge role in keeping their union strong.
According to the 47-year-old, the decision to stay married through thick and thin was made even before they tied the knot.
“Staying married for over two decades… First things first, you have to decide. It’s a decision. From day one, we decided that divorce was not an option—even before we got married.
“There’s almost nothing someone can do that you can’t forgive, if you want to forgive. We all have to realise that we’re all sinners,” she said.

The mother of four also recalled how her husband Nnamdi proposed two weeks after they met and they got married four months later.
She added that their first year as chaotic, she said the love he showed her was what made her accept the proposal so quickly.
“I was young. Till today, I don’t know how I agreed to marry him so quickly. But I know I fell in love with the way my husband loved me.”
Oboli further disclosed that their shared decision to never consider divorce helped them navigate the turbulent early days of marriage.
Omoni, who shares three sons with her husband, recently revealed that parts of her newly released film After a Night in July (Sequel) are inspired by her real-life love story.
“After a Night in July is so special to me because parts of it mirror my real life. My husband proposed two weeks in, and we married four months later! Our first year was turbulent, but we chose love. If you’re married or intend to marry, you’ll learn, laugh, and love,” she wrote on Instagram.
