
Popular Nigerian Gospel singer and pastor Eben has shared that a planned church event was cancelled because of the outfit he wore on his album cover.
The singer in a recent podcast interview, explained that a church took back its invitation after the committee saw him wearing shredded denim jeans on his album cover. He said everything for the event had already been arranged before they changed their minds.

“They had already invited me for their convention, and everything was arranged. Then they saw my album artwork where I wore a shredded denim jean,” he said.

He said the jeans did not show any skin or look inappropriate, but the church committee thought the style was not right for a Christian minister.
“The organiser called me, very upset, and mentioned that the committee felt they could not accept me as a minister due to the type of jeans I was wearing. They said it wasn’t suitable for a Christian,” he added.
Looking back on what happened, the gospel singer whose full name is Emmanuel Benjamin, said some people care more about outward appearance than the message of faith.

He added that he tries to live honestly and believes his success comes from God’s grace, not just his own efforts.
Despite what happened, Eben said he does not hold any resentment and sees it as part of his journey.
