Popular Nigerian skitmaker Aloma Isaac Junior, known as Zicsaloma, has shared a blunt prescription of how to break free from poverty.
In a short video clip that has viral, the entertainer spoke candidly about the harsh realities of financial independence. “If you know you want to come out of poverty, you need to be financially heartless even to your direct family,” he declared.

Zicsaloma stressed that the advice is not about malice but about self-preservation. He shared personal experience of multiple failed business attempts, attributing many setbacks to family demands that drained resources. “I did a lot of business while growing up but most of them failed because of family,” he said.
He went on to describe how African family structures often build up a deep sense of entitlement, where relatives expect unrestricted access to one’s earnings. This pressure, he argued, undermines the very purpose of hard work saving, investing, and building generational wealth.
“It is very very okay to be financially heartless even to your friends and family so that you can even save up and break that circle. They will hate you for it but trust me it is for your own good,” Zicsaloma added.
The statement has left fans divided with each fan giving their own opinion:
