The husband of Anulika Onyeanusia has explained that he found out about the situation after his 36-year-old wife was arrested in Anambra State for allegedly abusing their daughters.
In a widely shared video, Ikechukwu said he first heard about it when a friend called and showed him the video.
He explained that he had just come back from church on Thursday evening when his friend reached out and invited him over.
“I came back from church. In the morning, I get ready, I go to my business, and in the evening I come back. So I didn’t know that something like this was happening,” he said.
“I only got to know when a friend of mine called me and said that I should come. I went to him, and he opened his phone and showed me a video.
“I saw the video. It was my wife, and I saw my daughter. She was molesting the child. I got kind of confused. What is this? What is happening? Could this be true?”
Ikechukwu said he wanted to confront his wife immediately, but his friend advised him to remain calm.
“I said, okay, but let me go and ask her. I came to her and asked her, ‘What exactly is this that I saw on the internet?’ She said no, that it was not true. I said, ‘How can you convince me that it is not true? She said I shouldn’t believe anything like that. She said it was AI,” the man added.
He said he later went to the police station, where his wife admitted that the video was real.
According to him, the divisional police officer (DPO) asked his wife in his presence if he knew about what was happening with their two daughters.
“I said no, I don’t know. He also asked, ‘Did your husband know about this?’ and she said no, that I didn’t know anything about this,” he said.
“I asked her, ‘did you do this?’ and she said yes.
“I got weak. I got tired. How come this kind of thing can happen? How can you do this kind of thing?”
Ikechukwu said he was deeply disappointed by his wife’s actions, adding that he never believed she could do such a thing.
“I want the public to know that this thing that happened, I am totally disappointed in my wife. I never believed she was going to do this kind of thing,” he said.
