Nana Otedola, wife of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has spoken about her background, setting the record straight on a common misconception about her identity.

In a video that has been circulating online, Nana had a conversation with her pregnant daughter, Temi Otedola, during which she addressed claims that she is Ghanaian.
According to her, despite what many people believe, she is proudly Nigerian and traces her roots to Abeokuta in Ogun State.
She explained that she is an Egba woman by heritage, although she was born in Kaduna State and spent almost two decades living in northern Nigeria.
She said: “To clear the room for everybody, I’m an Egba woman, and that’s the part I’ll gladly claim as a Nigerian. I am not a Ghanaian; my roots are in Abeokuta”.

Nana noted that her upbringing in different parts of the country may have contributed to the confusion surrounding her ethnicity.
Emphasising her origins, she stated that her family background remains firmly rooted in Abeokuta, regardless of where she was born or raised.

The philanthropist also opened up about the story behind her name. She revealed that her full name is Nana Fatima, a name given to her by her grandfather during her naming ceremony.
She added: “I go by the name Nana Fatima, given to me on my sunnah by my grandfather”.
