I came out of Project Fame feeling entitled- Bisola Aiyeola

Bisola Aiyeola, ex- reality TV star says she came out of the Project Fame Music contest feeling entitled. Aiyeola spoke candidly in a moving virtual conversation yesterday with Judith Audu, a Nigerian actress.

The singer cum actress who won the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Trailblazer Award appeared on Audu’s Instagram Live show “Meet The Actor/Filmaker.”

Aiyeola was one of the contestants at MTN Project Fame West Africa in 2008 where she came 5th.

Speaking in the interview Aiyeola revealed that she was expecting music deals to fall at her feet but it was the other way round.

“I came out of the Project Fame house feeling entitled. It was a big mistake I made. I was expecting people to tell me they wanted to sign me, and when it didn’t happen, I started from the scratch. It made me believe you need to work hard else opportunities will slip from your hands.”

After Project Fame, the 32-year-old entertainer who participated in the 2017 “See Gobe” edition of BB Naija explained that she initially she didn’t want to audition for the reality TV show.

“I didn’t want to audition for BB Naija because I was already having lots of Instagram followers from my skits; but a friend from Canada persuaded me to go. I auditioned nine days after I birthed my daughter. After going through series of physiological and physical tests, I was picked. I went into the house with appendicitis surgery pains but I had to be strong because I was there for a reason.”

Life as an actor

Speaking on her first movie role Bisola, as she is popularly referred to by fans, said:

“My first gig was in 2009/10, a Yoruba series titled Sababi. The role was a bit difficult for me because there were some indgenous words I had to pronounce properly. The script was in English but Wale Macaulay helped me to polish my Yoruba. It was a task. After then, I started going for auditions. It was a major struggle.”

Further, Bisola Aiyeola said she would pick music over acting presently because, “I have accomplished a lot in the movie industry. But in the music sector, it is a different ball game. Music is jealous and time consuming so I have not done enough.”
