Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, I Go Save, has called for the immediate release of activist Omoyele Sowore, while lamenting the increased visibility of operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in everyday Nigerian life.
In a widely shared post, I Go Save reflected on his childhood perception of the DSS as almost mythical figures rarely seen in public. “Growing up, I only used to hear about the DSS. I never saw them, nor did I know what they looked like. In my mind, they were almost mythical — like figures you only saw in pictures,” he wrote.

He contrasted this with the current situation, noting that DSS operatives now appear more frequently than Point of Sale (POS) operators.
“These days, you’re more likely to see a DSS operative than a POS operator. Every little thing now seems to attract them, especially when it’s time to silence outspoken voices on behalf of the oppressors,” the comedian stated.
He ended the post with a strong demand: “Make una free Sowore Now!”
Activist and Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore has been remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre. On June 22, 2026, Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his remand after revoking his bail for failing to appear in court on June 16.
Sowore faces cybercrime charges over alleged defamatory social media posts calling President Bola Tinubu a “criminal.” He appeared in court with supporters; the case was adjourned to June 30 for a ruling on the restoration of his bail. Sowore, however, denies the charges.
