I have had other relationships while married-Will Smith
American actor, Will Smith has revealed that both he and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith have had sexual relationships with other people during the course of their marriage.
Last year, following a claim by rapper, August Alsina that he had engaged in a relationship with Jada with Will’s permission, the couple’s marriage had been the talk of the town.
Pinkett Smith denied the claims at first. However, when she and her husband had an interview took for her web show Red Table Talk, she revealed there had been an “entanglement”.
The entertainer informed that their marriage was monogamous in the beginning. Then the duo decided to open it up after they were “both miserable and clearly something had to change”.
He further stated that while the conversation surrounding Alsina had focused on Jada, both he and his wife had engaged in other sexual relationships. He said,
“Jada never believed in a conventional marriage. Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up.”
The award winning actor revealed that he and his wife had discussed many times about ways to make their marriage work because they did not want it to be like a prison.
He stated that he does not suggest his marriage style to anybody, saying,
“There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection. We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison.
He continued,
“And I don’t suggest our road for anybody. I don’t suggest this road for anybody. But the experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith tied the knot in 1997. The Union has produced two children, Jayden and Willow Smith.
