Peller, the popular TikTok content creator has raised alarm over what he described as excessive taxes allegedly imposed on him by the Lagos State Government.

Peller made the disclosure during a recent livestream where he was joined by Nigerian singer, Peruzzi. He claimed that officials of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) had issued him a demand notice to pay ₦36 million as income tax.

According to him, the tax bill came as a shock because he only became popular on social media in 2024.

Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” he lamented during the live broadcast.

Reacting to his complaint, Peruzzi questioned why the TikTok star had not yet settled his tax obligations, noting that payment of tax is a legal duty for all Nigerians.

Why haven’t you paid your taxes? Do you know you’re supposed to pay tax as a Nigerian? Do you know how much I pay as tax? I won’t mention it here, but it’s more than the tax bill they gave you,” Peruzzi told him.

The singer further advised Peller to resolve the matter with the authorities quickly in order to avoid possible legal action, including imprisonment.

However, Peller maintained that the amount being demanded was too high. He alleged that the government had never supported him financially or otherwise during his TikTok career, yet was now asking for millions in tax.

He also suggested that the large tax bill may be linked to his public display of assets and the disclosure of his earnings from TikTok.

Peruzzi, in response, encouraged him to reach out to the authorities and request additional time to enable him to raise the money. But Peller insisted that his income comes from his online activities and is not generated from within Nigeria.
