I Said What I Said- YCee Unapologetic for Using Peller as Case Study for ‘Brain Rot’ Content

Nigerian recording artiste, Ycee, has stated that he is unapologetic for referring to TikTok influencer, Peller, as the flagbearer for creating ‘brain rot’ content in Nigeria, which was colloquially dubbed, ‘Olodo Uprising’.

Eelive.ng reports that YCee sparked mixed reactions after using popular TikToker Peller as an example of what he described as “olodo uprising,” where Nigerians are increasingly embracing “brain-rot” content for entertainment at the expense of edutainment.

Some critics slammed him for using Peller as an example, arguing that he could have made his point without name-dropping Peller.

However, reacting in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos, YCee said he doesn’t owe anyone an apology for using Peller as an example in buttressing.

He said, “Some people are saying I shouldn’t have called Peller’s name, but I said what I said. If you feel offended, you should check yourself. A lot of people are also taking what I said out of context. The olodo uprising is even worse than I thought because there are so many people coming out to defend it.

“My call is to people who are tired of brain-rotting content. There is no reason why intelligent people cannot be streamers or content creators.”
