Businesswoman Nana Otedola, wife of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has opened up about the different business ventures she explored before eventually finding success with her laundry and dry-cleaning business.

She said her early attempts included working as an administrative staff member and buying and selling, but neither brought the results she hoped for.

She said: “I tried like 10 other things. I tried to work as an admin staff member in an office, although your dad kicked against it. I tried to buy and sell. I was trying other things while doing the dry-cleaning business.”

Nana explained that her big break eventually came when she focused on providing laundry and dry-cleaning services.

She recalled that even a consultant and her husband initially questioned whether the business would succeed, but she believed Lagos had a need for a reliable service in that sector.

She recalled: “I remember a consultant known as Brian said to me, ‘Do you think this will work?’ Your dad also asked me, ‘Do you think this will work?’ Lagos needs a good dry-cleaning and laundry service.”

Despite the doubts she faced at the beginning, Nana remained committed to the business, which eventually became successful.

Mr Eazi also agreed that the demand for dependable laundry services in Lagos remains strong today.
