Renowned Nigerian recording artiste, Flavour, whose real name is Chinedu Okoli, has explained how he struggled with masturbation, which is colloquially known as soapy.
According to the foremost singer-songwriter, there was a period in his life when he battled a masturbation addiction, revealing the experience during a TikTok live session with friends.

According to the singer, the habit started after he lost his virginity and later lost contact with the woman involved. With no sexual partner at the time, he said he turned to masturbation, which eventually became an addiction after a friend introduced him to Mapouka dance videos from Congo.

Flavour admitted the addiction lasted for about two years and became so severe that he felt ashamed and found it difficult to relate normally with friends, even during everyday activities like watching football.
He also disclosed that at one point, he “even used liquid soap” while struggling with the addiction.
The singer said he first sought help from his mother’s pastor, whom he described as a Guidance and Counselling expert. According to him, the pastor prescribed a “21-day fast” along with prayer points, but the addiction returned just days after completing the exercise.
Flavour said he later confided in a bassist he played music with, who believed the problem was linked to his youth and lack of regular sexual activity. The bassist reportedly took him to a brothel and paid for him to have sex with a woman there.
According to the singer, he subsequently began spending money he earned from playing musical instruments on weekly visits to brothels, a decision he said eventually helped him overcome the addiction.
