Nigerian Grammy winner Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems has opened up about her performance at the official dedication of the Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago.

The singer took to the microblogging platform, 𝕏, after performing at the event on Wednesday, revealing she felt nervous after joining other international music stars to celebrate the opening of the new centre.

Tems admitted that her nerves affected her, hence the accidental misnaming of former President Barack Obama’s daughters during her onstage speech.

The event was held at John Lewis Plaza on the 19-acre Obama Presidential Centre campus. It marked the formal dedication of the $850 million facility before its public opening on June 19.

Community activities will run until June 21.

The event also featured performances by Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Common, Bono, The Edge, Marc Anthony, and The Roots.

The Obama Presidential Centre, inspired by former United States President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, has been years in the making and is widely regarded as one of the most anticipated cultural projects in the country.
