Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has revealed that her life could have taken a very different turn if she had not found success in music.
Speaking during a recent interview with EE72, the award-winning singer reflected on her journey to stardom, admitting that she believes she would likely have been unemployed if her music career had not taken off.
The 24-year-old star explained that music completely changed the course of her life, opening doors to opportunities she never imagined.
Looking back on her early days, Ayra Starr recalled how thrilled she was when she discovered that Don Jazzy and the team at Mavin Records had been listening to her songs before eventually offering her a recording deal.

She described the moment as a major turning point in her career, one that helped launch her into the spotlight and set her on the path to becoming one of Africa’s most successful young artists.
She said: “If I were not doing music, I would literally be unemployed. I do not even think I would be a content creator. That would be a lot of work. I would just be vibing in my mother’s house, eating my mother’s food.”
She continued:“I was so excited when I found out they were listening to my music. You know who it is.”
She added: ““I really wish people knew less about me. Once the camera comes on, I cannot stop talking. And I feel like I overshare.”
Ayra Starr also opened up about the less glamorous side of fame. According to her, being in the public eye comes with its own challenges, and there are times when she wishes people knew less about her personal life.
The singer admitted that she often speaks candidly during interviews, which sometimes leaves her feeling overly exposed.
Ayra Starr was discovered by Don Jazzy through social media and signed to Mavin Records in 2020. Since then, she has become one of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports, releasing successful projects such as 19 & Dangerous and The Year I Turned 21.
