Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has candidly reflected on one of the darkest moments of his life, revealing how a viral scandal during the early days of his career left him emotionally shattered.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Vibe podcast, the award-winning singer recounted the aftermath of an incident in which a woman secretly took a photograph of him while he was asleep and posted it online. The image quickly spread across social media, triggering widespread criticism and intense public scrutiny.

Davido recalled that the controversy became so overwhelming that his father and sisters repeatedly called him as the story gained traction. He admitted that the pressure pushed him to a breaking point, saying that if there had been a balcony nearby at the time, he might have jumped.
Reflecting on the experience, the singer acknowledged that he was much younger then and accepted responsibility for some of his actions, adding that he “liked women too much.”
The incident, which made headlines years ago, marked Davido’s first major negative experience with fame. Clearing the air, he explained that the woman entered his apartment while he was asleep and shared the photo without his consent before later apologising.
