Funke Akindele, the Nollywood actress cum filmmaker, has taken to social media to pen down an emotional tribute to her late mother, R.B. Adebanjo-Akindele, on what would have been her 71st birthday.
The mother of two via her verified Instagram page on Thursday shared a heartfelt message alongside a video compilation of cherished moments spent with her mother.
The actress’ caption the video:“Happy heavenly Birthday to my darling mother!!! Iya Bunmi, I want you to know that I’m working hard to build a life that makes you proud. I’m prioritizing my well-being, just as you adviced and striving to live each day with purpose and joy.

In 2023, Funke’s older sister, Olubunmi Akindele announced the death of late R.B. Adebanjo-Akindele.
The statement had read in part:
“It is with heavy hearts, but in total submission to God Almighty, that the ADEBANJO and AKINDELE families announce the passing of their daughter, mother, grandmother and sister, DR. R B ADEBANJO-Akindele, which occurred on Tuesday 07 February 2023.”
