Instagram Launches New Checkout Shopping Feature

Instagram has rolled out what most consider the most dangerous feature on the app yet – a checkout feature. So while millions of people were spazzing about Instagram’s shutdown, the photo-sharing platform was busy devising a means of trapping shoppers.

It is a great deal for businesses but the dangerous part, you might spend more than you want to.

How does it work? When a seller makes a product ‘shoppable’ on Instagram, it becomes clickable and then the buyer is directed to a page where the checkout option is found. The buyer inputs his card details, save it safely and can now buy whatever they like straight from the app.

Over 20 of the world’s biggest brands are presently testing out the tool; including Adidas, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Balmain, Burberry, ColourPop, Dior, H&M, Huda Beauty, KKW, Kylie Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, NARS, Nike and more.

We expect to see this testing phase succeed and more companies adopt the new feature.
