Nancy Isime: Without the Love of a Mother
Nancy Isime lost her mother at the tender age of 5. She was singlehandedly raised by her father, growing up on the streets of Lagos state. It was in the early phases of her life that she realised her artistic and creative abilities.
Though she was born in Lagos State, Isime spent time in other parts of Nigeria, such as Benin City, Edo State, and Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where she attended the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) for a six-month basic course.
In her pursuit of prominence, Nancy Isime would return to Lagos state in her 20s to pursue a degree in Social Work at the University of Lagos. In 2011, at barely 20, Nancy Isime would make her acting debut.
She appeared in the television series, Echoes. Isime would take a break from acting after enjoying modest notoriety as a television presenter.

She co-hosted the 2019 edition of The Headies award with Reminisce. She was also the presenter of The Voice Nigeria 2021.

Nollywood Career
As stated earlier, Isime initially made her Nollywood debut in 2011; however, she didn’t gain modest popularity until the mid-2010s. According to reports gathered, the Nigerian entertainment polymath appeared in six movies between 2015 and 2016. She also made a cameo in comedian Ayo Makun’s comedy film, A Trip to Jamaica. Isime would work with Makun in several movies in the near future.
Isime has since appeared in several Nollywood movies, including The Razz Guy, which features Broda Shaggi and Lasisi Elenu. Other movies are Superstar, Shanty Town, Move Like a Boss, and, most recently, Radio Voice.
How Do We Rate Nancy Isime’s Acting Career?
Isime has impressive movie acting. She has won several accolades; however, she isn’t considered one of the industry’s best actresses.
While modern thespians such as Bimbo Ademoye, Uche Montana, and Bolaji Ogunmola are often credited as incredible actresses of their generation, Isime’s name is never mentioned. In 2018, she was recognised as the Most Promising Actress by City People Movie Awards; however, her popularity as an actress has since waned.
Isime’s name doesn’t come up in conversations among some of the best modern screen actresses.
