
Peter Okoye, a Nigerian singer better known as Mr P of the popular music group, P-Square has explained why it is preferable to be a solo artiste.
The singer-songwriter was a former member of the now-defunct group, P-Square, a band that included his twin brother, Paul Okoye, who is professionally known as Kingrundy.
Speaking in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos, Mr P said there is a unique joy that comes with pursuing a solo career.

“There’s a joy that comes with going solo. Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it; it’s not working,” he said.
This comes months after Paul confirmed that P-Square had broken up again. The duo first split in 2016 and reunited in 2021.

P-Square are a Nigerian music duo composed of the twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye, who co-write and co-produce most of their songs.
They were integral to the evolution of the 2000s and 2010s African popular music. The duo was launched into mainstream recognition following the release of the song “Senorita” in 2003, and later gained recognition after releasing their sophomore album Get Squared in 2005.
The success of the album earned them a nomination at the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act in 2006. A prominent figure in the African popular culture of the 21st Century, P-Square was awarded Artistes of the Decade at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2015.
They have been referred to as the “Best African Group” by Forbes Africa consecutively. They have appeared on the Forbes Lists of the 40 most powerful celebrities in Africa.
