
In an unexpected development, all burial arrangements for late gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, have been fully cancelled by the Burial Planning Committee.
The announcement which came late this evening reads: “This is to inform the General Public that all plans & arrangements for the burial of our Late Sister & Colleague; Lady Evang. Bunmi Akinnaanu a.k.a. OMIJE OJUMI by the Burial Planning Committee has been CANCELLED totally.This decision became necessary due to some issues arising from and within her family. We are deeply sorry and regret the inconveniences.”

As reported by eelive.ng, the late gospel singer family and colleagues, led by gospel artist Alayo Melody had released a detailed programme on Friday via Instagram fliers and social media. Events were set for: Tuesday, January 20, 2026 for Service of Songs at 4:00 PM, Candlelight Procession at 7:00 PM, and Artistes’ Night from 8:00 PM to midnight. All at LTV 8 Ground/Multi-Purpose Hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos. On Wednesday, January 21, 2026 for private interment at 10:00 AM, restricted to family and close associates.
Bunmi Akinnaanu passed away on January 12, 2026, at a Lagos hospital after a prolonged and painful battle with a severe leg ailment. In late 2025, a viral video showed her tearfully seeking prayers for healing amid visible health struggles.
