Kay Oyegun To Write Screen Adaptation For “Children Of Blood And Bones”
Nigerian-American Writer, Kay Oyegun (“This Is Us”) has been enlisted to script the forthcoming movie adaptation of bestseller, “Children Of Blood And Bone”, completing the list of talented Nigerians working on the project. The film will be the first feature property to be produced by Lucas Film, since the Disney’s acquisition that isn’t a part of the “Star Wars” or “Indiana Jones” franchise.
Sometime in 2018, Nigerian-American author, Tomi Adeyemi, had the film rights to her bestselling debut novel, “Children of Blood and Bone” acquired by Fox/Disney, and had Award-winning Nigerian-American filmmaker, Rick Famuyiwa chosen as Director for the project.
“Children of Blood and Bone” – is the story of Zélie Adebola, who watched her mum get murdered at the age of six. Ten years after the raid that made her an orphan and banished magic from her people, Zélie finally has a chance to make things right.
Oyegun on her part, seems to be making waves; earlier on in the year, her feature spec, “Assisted Living”, was the subject of a bidding battle, won by Paramount Pictures while her work on “This Is Us” also earned her the award for “Best Writing in a Dramatic Series” at the 2019 edition of the NAACP awards.
The sequel, “Children of Virtue and Vengeance”, will reportedly be released on December 3.
