Nollywood filmmaker, Kazim Adeoti, has opened up about his relationship with his wife, popular actress Mercy Aigbe, revealing the moment she left a lasting impression on him long before they became a couple.
Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Adeoti recounted their early working relationship and praised Mercy for her honesty and integrity, qualities he says he deeply admires.
The producer recalled their first collaboration on the 2011 movie Hajia Jemila, noting that while most actors complained about payment, Mercy surprised him by returning part of her fee, insisting she had been overpaid.
“What I really admire about her is her honesty and straightforwardness; it’s something I truly respect,” Kazim said. “After I paid her for Hajia Jemila, I was expecting the usual complaints about low fees. Instead, she came back to say there was extra money left. I was genuinely shocked.”
He added that despite industry advice to work primarily with men to avoid complications, Mercy’s professionalism changed his outlook.
“People told me to avoid working closely with women if I wanted to succeed. But I gave her a chance, and she proved everyone wrong. She’s not only a woman but a beautiful one who conducts herself with great integrity,” he said.
Kazim also revealed he never took the returned money back but continued to work with Mercy from that point forward a relationship that eventually blossomed into marriage.
Their union has not been without controversy, as the marriage sparked backlash and accusations that Mercy “snatched” Kazim from his first wife, Funsho Adeoti. Despite the criticism, Kazim’s recent remarks highlight the mutual respect and admiration at the heart of their relationship.
