Ayodeji Balogun, the popular Nigerian singer, also known as Wizkid, recently got fans talking after he threw what appeared to be a singlet into the crowd during a performance.
A video making the rounds online showed the moment Wizkid tossed a white singlet from the stage to his fans.
Surprisingly, it seemed the item was thrown right back at him. This led many social media users to believe the crowd rejected the singer’s gesture, sparking mixed reactions and different narratives online.
However, some netizens who claimed to have been present at the scene or saw clearer footage, say the story is not accurate. According to them, it was not Wizkid’s own clothing that was returned, but rather another item from fans who had been interacting with him on stage.
One user, @Janjanywa, wrote: “It’s not his own that was thrown back.”
Another, @Treasuredaniels, joked about the choice of clothing: “Why not throw a shirt… why throwing singlet wey don soak heat already?”

@Sandylopez added: “But that’s not even the same cloth 😂,” while @Riyike echoed the same sentiment, saying: “It’s not his own that was thrown back, eyin weray.”
Going further, another user, @Blaqbutterfly, gave more explanation:
“It’s not his own that was thrown back. Una too like to dey lie. He initially asked them to remove their shirts, and some of his fans did and started throwing their shirts for him to catch. That one you think it’s his, is actually not his but one of his fan’s. It was a black girl that even caught his own shirt.”
@Dfinesteagle also debunked the reports, saying: “It’s not the shirt. Stop false narrative.”
@Beebee jokingly suggested a different approach: “Maybe he should throw money abeg 😂.”
@Frosh criticized media outlets, saying: “It’s not the same clothe that was thrown back. Mumu blog…”
@MrPharsh also claimed: “Why lie… The shirt that they were fighting for… Two girls… @thetattleroomng too dey lie.”
Another netizen, @Wisdom, clarified: “Him no throw shirt, na singlet.”
The video clip has continued to generate buzz, with fans divided on whether or not Wizkid’s singlet was truly rejected by the crowd.
