Kemi Afolabi begins Lupus treatment

Nigerian actress Kemi Afolabi has revealed that she has begun treatment for lupus at John Hopkins Hospital.

This is following her announcement

in this early stages of the year that she was battling with the disease.

On Thursday, she shared pictures of herself on her instagram page, revealing that she was undergoing treatment at The John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland, United States. She captioned the post,

“I commence my lupus treatment journey today 06/30/2022 with @hopkinsmedicine ALIHAMDULILAH 🙏 Some beautiful souls made this happen, God bless you all. Wish me luck. #warrior.”

She went on to mention her fellow actors including Funke Akindele-Bello, Mercy Aigbe, Toyin Abraham, Yomi Fabiyi. Also, Akin Olaiya, Wumi Toriola, Adeoti Kazim, Shola Kosoko, and others, as sponsors of the fundraiser.

She also stated that the treatment began in June 2022.

Earlier this week, rumours that the actress visited a popular church for healing hit social media. However, Afolabi debunked the reports stating that she had ever attended a church for healing. She adds that she is a devout Muslim and had a personal relationship with Allah. She further said that since the news of her illness became public, she had “gotten reports of different misinformation and false narratives out there.”
