Kiekie Declares She’s ‘Not a Domestic Person’, Sparks Debate on Marriage Roles and House Chores

Nigerian media personality and content creator Kiekie has sparked lively debate on social media after openly discussing her views on domestic responsibilities in marriage.

In a candid statement that quickly went viral, Kiekie declared that she is not a domestic person and has never pretended otherwise, even before getting married.

According to her, she did not engage in traditional household chores such as washing clothes, cleaning plates or sweeping her husband’s home during their courtship.

In her words: “I am not a domestic person and I say it with my full chest. Before I got married, I never washed my husband’s clothes. I did not wash plates in his house. I did not sweep. I did not pretend to love house chores just to catch a ring. That is not my style.

“I know how to cook, but I hardly cook. From the time I am speaking now, it has been many months since I cooked a full meal. My baby is almost one. Life is still going on. The Bible says man shall not live by bread alone. You cannot marry me and think food work is the only way our home will stand. There are other important things to do.”

Kiekie argued that a successful home is more than domestic house chores. She stressed that she contributes other meaningful qualities to her marriage beyond cooking and chores.
