Veteran Nigerian music executive and record producer, Id Cabasa, whose real name is Olumide Ogunade, has mentioned that musicians and creatives who have taken time to build their ability to make good judgment in the music business will be more valuable than those who only possess talent.
During a livestream session seen by eelive.ng, ID Cabasa stated that musicians should learn the business side of the music industry and not focus solely on creating songs that are often surpassed by other songs or by other musicians within a short period of time.
He stated that it is important for a creative to possess talent and also to understand how streaming, digital platforms, and other forms of creative networks work.

ID Cabasa also noted that musicians should not always throw money at everything simply because they have the funds for it and also the team behind them; instead, they should endeavour to learn how the system works and how to make revenue from their handiwork.
Using the music streaming platform Spotify as a case study, ID Cabasa stated that most musicians do not understand how it works because they have failed to study the business side of the platform. He mentioned that songs appearing on Spotify aren’t enough; instead, musicians, especially up-and-coming artistes, should learn how to captivate their new audience and keep them entertained.
