Nigerian filmmaker and content creator Korty EO has raised an online discussion after questioning the growing number of celebrities publicly backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu despite the country’s mounting economic hardship.
In a post shared via X, Korty expressed confusion over what she described as an unexpected wave of celebrity endorsements for the president.
According to her, the declining quality of life in Nigeria, particularly among the middle class, makes such support difficult to understand.
“I’ve been tryna understand why so many celebrities are supporting Tinubu. How much could they possibly be paying them? The middle class is forcefully entering lower class, so they are definitely affected by the state of the country. I think I’m naive but what are they gaining?” she wrote.

Responding to her concerns, reality TV star Vee offered a more defined take. While acknowledging that some entertainers might have personal interests tied to their political alliances, she added that others genuinely believe in the president’s leadership.
“While some seek to gain from their support, you’d be surprised to find out some of them actually believe he’s doing a good job. Sense doesn’t come with popularity,” Vee stated.
Notably, a number of celebrities have come out to lament the toll the current hardship is taking on them, with the likes of Nollywood actor Kunle Remi, actress Damilola Adegbite, singer Mr Real, among others.
