Lizzo Bares It All for Rolling Stone Feature

American singer, rapper, and flutist Lizzo graces the cover of this month’s Rolling Stone magazine as she takes her body positivity message to the global stage.

The cover shows the Truth Hurts singer, 31, as she strips down to a nude bodysuit that makes her look almost naked, save for a few artfully placed flowers on her chest and crotch.

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, became one of the biggest breakthrough artists of 2019; thanks to her hits Truth Hurts and Good As Hell.

But with fame came a lot of scrutiny and harassment about her plus-sized body and her willingness to wear skimpy costumes or share semi-nude selfies on social media.

She’s fought off trolls who have called her “obese,” and now, Lizzo opens up to Rolling Stone about how she’s so much more than just a symbol for body acceptance.

Lizzo spoke about how she wants to be known for so much more than her body. She said: “I’m so much more than that. Because I actually present that, I have a whole career. It’s not a trend.”

Lizzo has been nominated for eight Grammys this year, the most out of any artist in 2020. And she added that she wants to make music that everyone can relate to; but most importantly women just like her.

Lizzo explained: “As a black woman, I make music for people, from an experience that is from a black woman. I’m making music that hopefully makes other people feel good and helps me discover self-love.

“That message I want to go directly to black women, big black women, black trans women. Period.”

Good on you, Lizzo. We can’t wait to see how many awards she bags this year.
