Guinness World Record holder and popular food influencer, Hilda Baci has started her attempt to cook the biggest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice.
The event kicked off on Friday at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos and has already drawn a very large crowd. Young people, food lovers, and even celebrities were seen rushing to the venue to witness the historic cooking.
The turnout was so massive that long queues stretched outside the hotel and beyond the main arena inside the compound.
Many people were stuck at the gate as officials asked them to verify their emails from the earlier online registration before gaining entry. Security men also struggled to control the restless crowd pushing to enter the space which was already packed full.
Speaking at the event, Hilda explained that the giant pot being used for the cooking was specially made and has a capacity of 22,619 litres. She said the plan was to fill it up to 80 percent. To achieve that, she would need about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice, which is around 264 bags.

However, the chef later raised the challenge, announcing a new target of 25,000 bags of rice for the record attempt.
As the cooking began, loud cheers erupted from her supporters who were excited to see her take on another Guinness World Record. The atmosphere at the venue became charged with excitement as many continued to chant and encourage her while the cooking progressed.
