Made in Lagos: Wizkid postpones Canadian tour

Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid, has announced the postponement of Canadian leg of his Made in Lagos album world tour.

The singer, in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Wednesday, said the move was necessary in line with the public health measures put in place by the Canadian Government.

He wrote “Due to existing and public health measures being introduced by the Canadian Government, I will no longer be able to perform my Canadian shows in January. I’m looking forward to returning as soon as possible.”

In July 2021, Wizkid announced Made in Lagos tour to North American countries, United States and Canada.

Since its release in October 2020, Made In Lagos earned international recognition with several international stars drumming support for ‘Essence’, the eleventh song in the album.

‘Essence’, ft fellow singer, Tems, made history by being the first Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100; and Global 200 music chart in July.

Also, Wizkid featured Canadian star Justin Bieber on the remix of Essence in July.

The remixed version of Essence also sits at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard world digital song sales chart as at Tuesday.

The album spent a total of 41 weeks on the World album chart ;and debuted on the number two spot in November 2020.

Also, the album became the first African album to debut on the Spotify Global Album chart at top ten position.
