The 17th edition of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards was hosted by KieKie and VJ Adams, it was a vibrant celebration of Nollywood’s excellence.
Held on December 14, 2025, in Lagos, the ceremony celebrated standout achievements in Nigerian film, blending glamour with a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest red carpet. However, the night highlighted Nollywood’s growth in both cultural storytelling and technical excellence.
Let’s take a look at the major highlights of the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON)
Movie of the Year:
Farmer’s Bride took home the biggest prize of the night, winning Movie of the Year, solidifying its place as 2025’s most acclaimed film.
Technical Excellence:
Seven Doors dominated technical categories, bagging four major awards: Best Production Design, Best Special Effect, Best Series, and Best Cinematography.
Lead Acting Awards:
Gideon Okeke won Best Actor and Padita Agu won Best Actress, both for their performances in Black Out.
Supporting Roles:
Mercy Aigbe clinched Best Supporting Actress for My Mother Is a Witch, while Taye Ayimoro was named Best Supporting Actor for Son of the Soil.
Cultural & Indigenous Recognition
Abanisete won Best Indigenous Film. The award, endowed by Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, recognized the importance of native language storytelling.
Romantic Highlight
Tobi Bakre and Folu Storms won the Best Kiss award for their chemistry in Red Circle.
New Category:
BON 2025 introduced Best Series as a new category, acknowledging Nollywood’s shift toward serialized content.
